Birthday Party for McKenzie at Menzies, a frozen yogurt place in Jersey Village, in the Spring of 2012–We gave her her very own electronic, computer journal with a lock on it to write her secrets in! Your “Pappa John” was there with Dee Worrell, and Jamie, Dee’s daughter and mommy to Makayla, McKenzie, and the new baby, and also your Uncle John Worrell, Jr. and your Aunt Tina Worrell, mommy of Luke and another cousin of yours–Then we all went back to visit at Grandpa John’s house not far away; You had a blast playing with the girls and running all over the neighborhood and park late at night with me and Dee watching you guys. You got angry at your Uncle John for playing rough right back with you. At first, they didn’t really warm up to us. Mommy thought they were acting strange. If only I had know why. Why didn’t they tell us what Daddy and Nancy and Grandma Diane Worrell were planning? Why?

Grandma Sue
Grandma Sue Holding Mommy in the Hospital the Day Mommy Was Born; Grandma Sue says that the first car Mommy ever rode in was Puppup’s blue Limousine (Lincoln) on the way home from the hospital, but Mommy doesn’t remember; Your great-grandfather/Puppup Saloom, was Chief-of-Staff at another hospital, so he could have delivered Mommy if he or my mom would have been comfortable with that, but I am guessing that they weren’t ( Too Strange!)
Mommy as a Flower Girl , Grandma Sue
Pappy Riding with the Police Posse in Parade
Grandma Nancy, 3 years- old; Grandma Nancy was adopted, which always made her feel very close to the Lord. She always felt a little emptiness in her soul she said, because she wanted to know her real Mommy. When she became much older, she learned who her real Mommy was, and that her Mommy would have never given her up for adoption if Grandma Nancy wouldn’t have been her SEVENTEENTH (17th) Child (WHOA!!!)–That was when people lived on farms and kids did all the chores, so this was not that unusual back then. I can’t even imagine having that many children! Times sure have changed! Grandma Nancy was a true Christian (Presbyterian) who truly showed obedience to her Lord in everything she said and did to the best of her ability, taught Sunday school, went back to college after she raised her five children, and became a Kindergarten Teacher at a Private Christian School in Pennsylvania; Grandma Nancy is Grandma Sue’s Mommy, “Pappy’s” Wife for over Fifty (50) Years! I wish you could have met her, but then again I’m sure that if she can’t see you from her place of resting in Heaven, then you will get to meet her when it is time, if that’s the way it works up there in Heaven, anyway. Some things are supposed to be a mystery that we don’t fully understand until we meet the Lord–The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Grandma Nancy always told me to ask the Lord Jesus to come into my heart. She said that was where he lived and how He was with us all the time. That was kind of heart for a three or four-year old to understand, but I always tried. I liked going to Sunday School with Grandma and Pappy and putting the quarters she would give me in the offering basket in Sunday School class when Mommy still lived in Pennsylvania (before moving to Texas). Grandma Sue misses her mommy very much, and this is why she reads and talks about the Bible so much now and watches Joel Osteen with Lakewood Church on the ‘boob tube’ (ha-ha). Grandma Sue always believed people should be able to have their own relationship with the Lord, as sometimes I think she (and Grandpa Ray) may have questioned the money-motivation behind organized religion and some possibly, what they perceived as hypocritical practices. But Mommy always loved trying out different churches with her friends and grandparents. Honestly, though, I get a lot more out of reading the Bible and studying it in quiet. Maybe it’s because Mommy is embarrassed to sing and that is so much of church! Grandma Nancy, your great-grandma Nancy, that is, I think would have and did say that was all the more reason to sing because it meant more to the Lord than someone who already liked to sing–because it was harder and, therefore, more of a pleasing sacrifice to the Lord (See the Bible story about the poor older lady who gave the last bit of money to the church coffer, which they made fun of her as it was nothing compared to what some others could give, but to the Lord, she made the greater, larger sacrifice because she gave more of what she had than they did.
Mommy and Grandma Sue–Mommy got really tan because she had just moved to Texas and came back for the summer to be the flower girl in a wedding.
Grandma Sue and Baby Joni Coloring Easter Eggs; Can you believe that Grandma Sue’s natural hair color is strawberry-blonde/red, just like in this picture? Lots of red-heads on that side of the family, thus, the name, “Pappy Red”; All Pappy’s friends call him “Red,” even though his whiskers that Mommy used to love to pull as a baby turned white a long time ago (ha-ha)!
“Puppup,” Dr. Raymond Jacob Saloom, Sr, and Grandma Mary Jane (Manno) Saloom, before Mommy was Born; Grandma Mary was born in Italy, but sailed to America on the boat with her parents, Gemma and Giacomo Manno, when she was just a baby before settling in Johnstown, Pennsylvania; Puppup was born in America (Johnstown, PA, I believe), but when his parents, Charles and Selma (Hamaty) Saloom were babies, they sailed to America on a boat from the coast of a country called Lebanon, which was close to the Holy Land where Jesus visited when he First Came to the World . They were Christians, obviously. Grandma was Roman-Catholic, and Puppup’s religion, Greek Orthodox, was very similar to Roman Catholic.
I always loved to watch you sleep when you were little!

Julian’s First Tricycle, from “Happy” Pappy, your Great-Granfather, Grandma Sue’s Daddy
Julian Jacob Worrell of Genealogy Saloom’s Great-Grandfather, “Puppup,” Dr. Raymond Jacob Saloom, Sr., who you kin of remind Mommy of in some ways–Good sense of humor, your face, super intelligent, serious when you’re working, though; Puppup always thought Mommy was so “special” in a very good way, and you, too have those same special qualities, my little love; Puppup always had Mummy’s secret drawer filled with goodies, treats, and presents when she visited the house, which was quite alot because when Mommy was little we lived very close to them (before moving to Pearland, Texas). Puppup had a doctor friend he always saw at medical conventions in Hawaii who had a practice in Pearland, and he said how great it was. This is why Grandpa Ray moved us here in 1982, during the “oil boom,” to try make more money. In history, this time period was called the “sunbelt city migration,” but you will learn about that in history or social studies class around Fifth or Sixth Grade if they still teach the subjects.
