Neil Young, a folk rock singer/songwriter from Canada, released “Heart of Gold” in 1972 on his album, Harvest.  Linda Ronstadt, a famous country and western music singer, and James Taylor sang back-up to this song.  It was a #1 US hit single when it was “Sugar Mountain.”  While Neil was on lead vocals, harmonica, and acoustic guitar, Ben Keith played the steel guitar, Tim Drummond played bass, Kenny Buttrey played drums, and Teddy Irwin played guitar.

Rolling Stone ranked “Heart of Gold” at # 297 on the list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
